Why Do Governments Appear to be Good, Bad, or Ugly?: Yin Yang Economics Part 3

I couldn't sleep tonight because for some reason I couldn't stop thinking about the question "Why do governments appear to be good, bad, or ugly?"

I thought and thought about it and finally decided.  Governments are neither good nor bad.  They just are. Just like you and me are neither good nor bad. We just are. Huh?  Yeah. Go figure.

Remember how I said everything moves in circles, patterns, pendulum swings, spheres, waves, etc...?
Well, the same is true for governments.   Again, it's the concept of yin and yang and it's something that we all know to be intuitively true but yet we are constantly forgetting that it is.

We constantly forget because as we go about our daily lives, it gets harder and harder to remember things.

Have you ever noticed that people who live in big cities always appear to be in a constant rush? They are always too busy doing something. So what do they do?  They find themselves dependent upon anything that helps them remember things better.  Right now on June 23, 2010 at 5:55 AM that "thing" is a handheld electronic device.  Mine is called an iPhone. What's yours called?

So as we go around and constantly forget things, the world seems at times a big and scary place, or a small and friendly place. Likewise governments appear to be good or evil when in fact they are neither.

Right now, if you asked me what I thought most Americans think about their government I would say from the looks of the elections they are mostly divided on whether the current government is either "evil" or "stupid".  I'd say on June 23, 2010 at 6:04AM more and more Americans have ceased caring if their government is "evil" or "stupid."  All they know is that at this point in time it's not "working."  So what do you do when something isn't working?   Like the old saying goes, "It's out with the old and in with the new."  The new being the Tea Party and recently elected Rand Paul of Kentucky.

Now if you are an incumbent politician and you want to keep your seat you are absolutely horrified at what's happening.  To you, this Tea Party appears to be dangerous so what do you want to do?  Take out or discredit anyone and anything that is related to this Tea Party, to this new movement.

But in doing so that in itself is a fallacy because hopefully by now you would have realized that this is a pattern, a wave, a circle, etc... that is governed by free will.

So where does the ugly come into this? Well, it depends on what you mean exactly by ugly.  For me, ugly means anything that is disruptive to the system. There is a range of "disruptive" that goes from peaceful transition to violent transition.   Right now, at this point in time, it is a peaceful transition in America and I hope it stays that way.

So if you were to ask me whether or not I thought former President George W. Bush was the evil monkey boy that Michael Moore described him as in his movie Fahrenheit 9/11, I would say the same thing that Michael Moore has already discovered... I feel kind of sorry for him.

That is what this world needs. An apology. An apology to everyone on it. Not just any apology, but any kind of  apology that will make us actually feel better.
